Day 18, 21/11/07 - Patagonia Northern Icecap

The agenda for today was for the two lads to lead us up to the Astancia, we left camp at 8:00am for the long walk. The temperature hit about 35 degrees and with the mosquitoes for company every step of the way this proved slightly distressing.

The lads went scouting ahead leaving us waiting at a ranch; by now we were under a swarm and they were biting like mad, it was unbearable. The route took us up a rather daunting ladder and across a huge rock which required using pre-established ropes to cross. Eventually after a long and hot day we arrived at the astancia, the day hadn't been too bad by all accounts; it was just the mosquitoes that made it hard work.

On the final stretch up to where we were camping Ben had a hissy fit, throwing off and kicking his backpack, he then sat down and didn't arrive in camp till a good hour later (effects of fatigue & heat exhaustion). Later that evening Ian & myself prepped for the following day as we would be leading the group up to the food cash (well let's hope so!)
