Day 7, 12/02/11: Burma - The Golden Shadow

Headed out towards the market this morning, though got waylaid en route by a hilltop Pagoda. A little local boy, Ash led us up to it and as we circumambulated he danced his way around the small containing wall.

After seeing the locals laying out the fish & squid heads for drying; we took out a couple of sea kayaks. With Paula at the helm and me at the bow our target was set; a floating buoy on the distant horizon.

After paddling out it soon became obvious that the buoy I had suggested was in fact a boat. It felt really liberating to get out and burn some energy, be out in the open and cruise the waves. What was even better though was riding the waves back to shore, no effort, no struggle just simply sit back and let the water flow draw us in.

This afternoon we were gifted with a teaching from Roshi, central to the talk was the word 'desire'. Immediately the word was offered up into the space I felt a jolt, like something within had been stirred or perhaps more appropriately been acknowledged. I felt my cheeks flush, maintaining my posture suddenly felt quite laboured, for some reason the word 'desire' seemed wholly appropriate and undoubtedly something that requires my awareness and integration.

After allowing myself to be swooned by yet another breath-taking sunset I headed to bed; warm, peaceful and content.
