About:Bali has a long tradition of Bali Usada, also known as Balinese traditional healing. The Balinese live equally in two worlds: the seen or conscious world called sekala, and the unseen or psychic world, called niskala. In traditional Balinese healing, both of these elements need to be addressed in order to truly heal.
What to expect:The experience will be very public. The healer may make magic, create fire, use mudras, draw patterns on your body & spit wads of chewed herbs on your skin.
Day 12, 07/05/12: Rediscovering Spirit - Bali
Slept on the veranda bed this morning then after lunch we headed to Ibu's ashram. I was glad to have some free time to myself. The peace and quiet did me the world of good and enabled me to get a handle on where I am with all of this.
Today was a different experience at the ashram. As Ratuniang embodied me I was able to stay conscious. As she entered Dharma held me around my midriff for support. I was able to signify with my hand that this was not what I wanted.
Then I could feel other energies around me. Ken stayed present at my side throughout guiding me in my consciousness. Ibu appeared at my side and said to Ken that the spirit of Ratuniang will make her so heavy she will not be able to support the weight. Ken prompted me again asking if I wanted the chair; my response was that I did not.
He asked me to feel inside my feet, feel each of my chakras opening; to relax my face and release my throat. The minute I released my throat the depth and potency of the experience grew tenfold.
He then guided me to focus my eyes down whilst still keeping them closed. In doing so the most incredible shade of blue erupted from within.
When the trance was broken I was nominated to go first for an exorcism. We had already had the conversation about this probably being a good idea.
In front of Ratuniang's shrine I was asked to sit on the floor with my legs crossed. She asked me to clear my mind as she gently blew into me. Immediately I fell backwards into the lap of the male guardian sat behind me.
I was then seated back upright, legs now laid flat in front of me. Not knowing what to expect I closed my eyes and cleared my mind (something which is incredibly easy for me to do out here).
As she began her foot made light contact with the space just above my right ankle. When she touched it the pain seared. It felt as if she was putting all her weight on me; my ankle bone felt as if it were being crushed into the hard tiles below.
As she moved up my leg the pain lessened. I heard Ken say, "there's something in there, something that's not Emma". She continued onto my left leg and despite putting a lot more weight onto it there was no apparent pain. Then she returned to the space above my right ankle; this time I roared on contact; my body being lifted up by the pain I felt. Holding on to Ken's arm he began to purge the toxicity on my behalf. It was intense yet at the same time semi-amusing. I would describe the pain as being a burning, somewhat excruciating sensation.
Apparently she couldn't at first see what was going on suggesting it may take two goes to remove it. Then, I imagine on hearing that, two young female guardians arrived at my side to guide Ibu. The entity, to my absolute horror was a crazy little red haired girl with freckles - go figure. I'm sure, something was lost in translation and it was actually some fire breathing dragon or crazed demon.
The crazy little red haired, freckled face brat had apparently become jealous and enraged that I had allowed Ratuniang into my body. Ibu said that now she was out she would not be able to return.
She then took my head in her hands and said she was topping up my energy; filling me up with me to ensure there would be no room for any other foreign entities.
As she blew into me I could feel the energy of Durga rise once more from within. My tongue rolled out; I once again felt the seductive power of the consort to Shiva as she exploded through my every cell, expanding and growing me in the process.
Ibu said that whilst the red haired entity was inside of me I didn't have room to allow in Durga; only Ratuniang.
After the intensity of my exorcism we then drove to the ashram of the young Oracle Priestess. Today her warrior like Uncle was present; his energy adding a new, deepening dimension to our experience.
I accompanied my old kindred spirit, Bronia up and we laughed and laughed as the Melukat waters fell. It was such a light hearted and enjoyable cleanse, and after the events of this morning one I felt I could really do with.
Once more she sang to us, only this time instead of falling immediately I began circling. It was as if her words were coiling me, pushing and pulling me from side to side, around and around. Before long my tilt was too great and I found myself sinking deeply into the tiles below.
